Robert Warren Combes, 85, of Marinette, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013. He was born on October 1, 1927 in Marinette to Leander and Minnie (Anderson) Combes.
Robert was a graduate of Marinette High School, Class of 1945. He served in the Army from 1945 to 1948 and was stationed in the Philippines. Robert was employed by Scott Paper Co. from 1951 to 1993. On January 12, 1952, he was married to the former Jean Schewe at First Trinity Lutheran Church by Pastor Frank Zaiser. He was a member of First Trinity Lutheran Church. He and his high school friend Darcy were Twin City tennis champs his senior year of high school. He bowled for Scott Paper Co. and First Trinity Lutheran Church and was a member of American Legion Post 39. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, enjoyed traveling and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting events.
Robert is survived by his wife, Jean; his children: Leah (John) Zorn, Nina Strokos and Karen (Jeff) Reinhard; nine grandchildren: Martina (Tony) Van Larhoven, Jamie (Veronica) Zorn, Brian Zorn, Susan (Bryan) Zimdars, Robert (Nicole) Strokos, Greg Reinhard, Scott (Robyn) Reinhard, Kelly (Brent) Frank and Kerry Combes; ten great-grandchildren: Mackenzie, Kayla, Paige, Kaelin, Kenadie, Taylor, Alex, Ella, Blake and Gillian. He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Combes; his parents, Leander and Minnie (Anderson) Combes; his three brothers: Perry, Everett and Norman; and five sisters: Evelyn, Anita, Virginia, Harriet and Ramona.
Friends may call at First Trinity Lutheran Church, Wells St. at Grant, in Marinette, after 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the church with the Rev. Fred Stubenvoll officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
