Richard L. Slattery, 89, Cedar River, Mich., passed away on January 19, 2014. He was born on August 17, 1924, to the late Clarence and Earcel (Easton) Slattery.
Richard served his country in the Navy during World War II. He married Jean Ann Nichol in February of 1949. She preceded him in death in February 1989. Richard loved spending time with his family at his house in "the North woods," and he enjoyed and appreciated the community provided by his friends at the Cedar River Chapel. In his later years, he looked toward being reunited with his wife, Jean Ann, and his grandson, Rob.
He is survived by two daughters: Karen (Mark Doremus) Slattery, Kathleen Slattery; one son, Joe (Patty) Slattery; and three grandchildren: Brian (Melissa) Slattery, Lauren (Fiancé Joe Janzen) Slattery and Nick Boremus. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Richard is preceded in death by his grandson, Rob; brother, Tom; and sister Elizabeth.
