Richard C. Camps, 93, of Marinette, passed away Tuesday evening, January 28, 2014, at Bay Area Medical Center. He was born July 3, 1920 in Marinette to Frederick and Anna (Rauner) Camps.
Richard resided in Marinette for most of his life and attended local schools. During World War II he served in the United States Army, entering military service in 1940. A decorated veteran, he served in several South Pacific campaigns and was awarded the Silver Star. He was a longtime employee of the former Scott Paper Co. where he worked for 40 years. Richard was married to the former Charlotte Williams who preceded him in death on December 28, 2010.
Richard is survived by three children: James (Leanne) Camps and Patricia (Timothy) Blunden, both of Menominee, and Richard M. Camps of Marinette; three grandchildren: Jason Camps, Robert Blunden and Jessica Blunden; six great-grandchildren: Myah, Emmah, Drew and Kallen, and Brianalyn, Tyrone and another child expected soon; his faithful dog, Tippy; and family cats: Tiger and Bootie.
Friends may call at Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home in Marinette from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. with Chaplain Darrel Diers officiating.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
