Richard "Dick" W. Wenzel, 70, of Peshtigo, passed away on November 20, 2013, after a brief battle with melanoma. He was born on August 18, 1943, son of the late William P. and Vivian (Anderson) Wenzel.
Dick graduated from Peshtigo High School in 1961. On February 8, 1964, he married the former Elaine Marchewka at St. Mary's Church in Crivitz. Dick was employed at Badger Paper Mill for 38 years, retiring in 1999. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed traveling, crossword puzzles, trivia and spending time with friends and family at the cabin. Dick was also an excellent cook and his many "famous" recipes will continue to be enjoyed at family get-togethers. In addition to being a devoted husband, father and grandfather, Dick will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor.
Dick will be greatly missed by his wife, of 49 years, Elaine; two sons: Jerry (Dawn) Wenzel of Wrightstown, Wis. and Bill (Jamie) Wenzel of Tomahawk, Wis.; a daughter, Sheryl (Bret) Hynnek of Peshtigo; seven grandchildren: Ben, Courtney, Adam, Andy, Teegan, Brianna and Gary. Further survived by cousins: Phil (Linda) Wenzel of Lake Delton, Wis., Patti (Syl) Metzner of Cecil, Wis.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Judy Marchewka of Crivitz; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ben and Tillie Marchewka.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 25, at Berth & Rosenthal Funeral Home from 2 p.m. until time of services at 4 p.m. Rev. David Murphy will be officiating.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Peshtigo. 
The family would like to thank Dr. Gian Daroach and staff and the many other medical professionals that provided Dick with care.  Also a special thank you to the staff of Rennes Health Care Center East for the loving care and comfort shown to Dick and his family during his illness.
