Reino Leonard Lampinen, 91, of Carney, Mich., passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Pine Grove Medical Facility in Powers, Mich. Ray was born April 29, 1921, in Daggett, Mich. to the late Alice and Emil Lampinen.
On October 22, 1943, Ray married Dorothy Cole in Menominee. She preceded him in death February 11, 2010. Ray was employed as a truck driver his whole working career driving for a number of local companies. During his military service in World War II, Ray was in charge of General Patton's motor pool. Ray was a member of the Mid County VFW Post #5966 and American Legion Post #43. He was an excellent mechanic, able to fix and repair anything. Ray was also a very giving person, helping whenever and wherever he could.
Survivors include his daughter, Donna (Ken) Linder of Carney, Mich.; his son, David (Nickie) Lampinen of Hermansville, Mich.; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; his sister, Elsie (Jim) Jones of Prescott, Ariz. Ray was preceded in death by brothers: Walter and William and sister, Esther.
Visitation Friday, April 26, 2013 at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home after 4 p.m. with military rites at 6 p.m. followed by funeral service.
Burial in Maple Grove Cemetery, Oakwood, Mich.
