Patrick J. Lahiff, 84, of Marinette, passed away Tuesday morning, November 5, 2013, at the Luther Home due to congestive heart failure. He was born October 31, 1929 to the late Alvin J. Lahiff and Beatrice (King) Lahiff.
Pat graduated in 1948 from Our Lady of Lourdes High School and worked at Goodfellows until being drafted into the United States Army in 1951 during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Germany where he worked as a mail clerk. He married Joanne M. Weber, April 22, 1952, while on furlough from military service. After coming home from Germany, Pat worked for Scott Paper Co. for 37 years, retiring in 1990. People who knew Pat will remember his sense of "Irish" humor, the jokes he told and the paper ones he handed out; and his sharp memory of people and places from years ago. He enjoyed going to Vegas with Joanne twice a year for several years, watching college football and the Packers, even last night's game. He also enjoyed sail boating his entire life. He took pleasure in frequenting the Shore Crest and The Dome Lanes for a beer or two! Pat was a member of the Elk's Lodge and the American Legion.
Patrick is survived by his two daughters: Kathleen M. (David) Woods, Sturgeon Bay, Wis. and Mary E. "Mel" (Bruce) Chaltry, Marinette; sister, Mary Lou (James) LaPlant, Springdale, Ohio; brother, James (Ruth) Lahiff, Athens, Ga.; sister-in-law, Janet Kraus, Marinette; and many, many loving nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Pat's wife, Joanne, preceded him in death on March 15, 2006.
A private service will be held at a later date.
Pat's family extends a special thank you to BAMC, the Emergency Room, ICU, Luther Home's Augustana Rehab and the Luther Home.
You will be so, so missed!
