Patrick G. Ravet Sr., 72, of Marinette, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2013, at his home. He was born on October 21, 1940, to the late Eugene M. and Pearl (Betzinger) Ravet in Menominee.
Patrick graduated from Marinette High School. He served his country in the National Guard for two years then enlisted in the Army. After service he furthered his education with courses throughout his career. He spent a total of 38 years in law enforcement, 29 years with the Marinette Police Department and 13 years as the Chief of Police. He retired in 1998. Pat was a member of Holy Family Parish, the Marinette Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. 1313, Town of Brazeau VFW, and was the Board Supervisor of Peshtigo Township. He loved the outdoors, enjoyed hunting and fishing, was an avid Packer fan. Pat trained police dogs and enjoyed searching for ancient artifacts and collecting antiques.
Patrick is survived by four sons: Gene (Diane) of Marinette, Patrick Jr. (Melanie) of McAllister, Robert (Lori) of Lewiston, ID, and Ryan of Marinette; a daughter, Mariah of Marinette; a brother, Michael (Jean) of Wausaukee; nine grandchildren; and one great grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Reilley and a sister, Pandora "Penny" Powell.
Friends may call at Thielen Funeral Home on Saturday, September 7, from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Parish - Our Lady of Lourdes Church at Noon with Monsignor John Dewane officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
