Obelia L. Hansen, 85, of Daggett, Mich., passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2013, at Bay Area Medical Center. The former Obelia Smith was born on July 4, 1927, in Amasa, Mich. to the late Vernie and Ethel May (Palmer) Smith. In 1955, Obelia married Wilfred Hansen. Wilfred preceded her in death on July 24, 2002. Obelia enjoyed crocheting, knitting and crafts from which she received many ribbons at the Fair. She further enjoyed a good game of cards and camping. Spending time with family is what Obelia enjoyed most. Obelia was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church where she was a member of St. Mary's Sanctuary Society.
Survivors include her grandchildren: Debbie (Clint Ruggles) Sadorf, Tina (Adam) Krause, Rosie (Brian Williams) Klemolin, Jason (Trish) Kintgen, Ed (Tammy) O'Brien, Dawn (Mike) LaFave, Ken (Cindy) Lagrew, Lisa (Curtis) Kempka; son-in-law, Dave Kintgen; step-grandchildren: Dave (Penny) Kintgen and Scott (Cheryl) Kintgen; 20 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and two brothers: Stanley Shoemaker and Junior Smith. Obelia was preceded in death by her daughter, Roseann Kintgen; son, Joseph O'Brien; six brothers and one sister.
Family and friends may call at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, from 2 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4 p.m. at Precious Blood Catholic Church with Father Corey Litzner officiating.
Burial will be in Mellen Township Cemetery.
