Nancy Lee Hayward, 77, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 23, 2013, after a battle with ALS. What a fighter she was, too. She was born January 13, 1936, to Emil and Virginia (Lucus) Waloway in Menominee, Mich.
Nancy married the late Jack Hayward on August 25, 1962, and raised four wonderful children. Nancy worked at BAMC for 30 years and held many different positions during those years until retiring in 1999. Nancy loved and enjoyed life to the fullest! She had a passion for gardening and music and used her God given talent of singing in the Bethel Lutheran Church choir in Menoninee, Mich., of which she was a member, along with singing in special cantata choirs. She also had a zest for polka dancing and would be found at Equity and other places every Sunday come rain or shine. Nancy loved nature, animals, birds and taking care of her pets.
Nancy's memory will be cherished in the hearts of two sons: Brian Hayward of Green Bay, Wis. and Shane Hayward of Milwaukee, Wis.; two daughters: Sherri Hayward of Green Bay, Wis. and Susan Thyne of Mascoutah, Ill.; two granddaughters, two grandsons, one great-granddaughter; four brothers: Ron (Linda) Waloway, Richard (Phyllis) Waloway, Ralph Waloway of Marinette, Roger Waloway of Green Bay, Wis.; one sister, Susie Chernetski of Marinette, as well as many nieces and nephews. Preceeding her in death were her parents, Emil and Virginia Waloway; step-mother, Mary Waloway; and two brothers: Russell and Robert Waloway.
Nancy will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Friends may call from 3 until 5 p.m. on Friday, September 27, 2013, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Menominee. Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. in the church with the Rev. Scott Ehle officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Marinette.
Thanks to the staff at the Northland Village, Luther home, Hospice, and her sisters-in-law Phyllis and Linda Waloway for all that they have done for her.
