Mary S. Van Cleve, 81, of 604 10th Avenue, Menominee, Mich., passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013, in Neenah, Wis. Mary was born in 1931 in Dublin, Ireland to the late Thomas Edward Smyth and Maria Ann (Murrey) Smyth.
Mary pursued nurses training in London as a young girl. It was there she met Gerald b. Van Cleve while he was stationed in London with the Air Force. Mary married Gerald Van Cleve in London, March 1, 1957. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1981. Mary and Gerald moved to the United States in 1958 and she soon went to work as a waitress at the Blue Water Cafe. She later worked for Leroy Cleaners, MJR, and Vernco. Mary was a loyal Packer Fan and an animal lover.
Mary's survivors include two daughters: Linda of Marinette, Wis. and Tammy of Appleton, Wis.; three sons: Danny (Tina) of Marinette, Wis., Thomas (Rene) of Peshtigo, Wis. and Glenn (Linda) of Menominee, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Rita, Patrick, Thomas, Theresa, Christin, Jimmy, Gabriella; her canine friends: Diamond Girl, Mitch, Prince, Gimp; cat, Sam and horse, Dazzler. Mary was preceded in death by brother, John and sister, Ann; two infant sons and granddaughter, Amy.
Friends may call on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Anderson Kell Funeral Home after 4 p.m. until the Vigil Prayer Service at 7 p.m. with Deacon Steve Gretzinger presiding.
Burial will take place on Thursday, at 10 a.m. in Riverside Cemetery, Menominee, Mich.
