Mary L. Ries, 85, of Lena, Wis., formerly of Wallace, Mich., passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Bay Area Medical Center with her family by her side. The former Mary Lucille Lesjack was born on September 18, 1927, in Menominee, Mich. to the late John and Mary Agnes (Nerat) Lesjack.
On January 17, 1948, Mary married Rienhart Ries in Menominee, Mich. Rienhart preceded her in death on March 18, 2001. Mary worked as a laborer at Ansul for 25 years retiring in 1990. Mary enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino, reading, doing crossword puzzles and gardening. Most of all, time spent with her family is what Mary enjoyed most. Mary loved watching her grandchildren play sports and the Green Bay Packers. Mary was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Wallace.
Survivors include her daughter, Sharon (Robert) Peterson of Lena, Wis.; two sons: Rienhart J. (Karen) of Green Bay, Wis. and Dan (Judy) of Menominee, Mich.; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one on the way; canine pals: Sammy, Chico and Brutus and feline friend, Drifter. Mary was preceded in death by her sisters: Elizabeth and Agnes; and brothers: Anton, John, Frank, William and Johnny.
Family and friends may call at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home, Stephenson, on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 after 3 p.m. until time of Funeral Service at 5:30 p.m. Pastor Cori Johnson officiating.
Burial will be in Mellen Township Cemetery.
