Mary Catherine Conklin, 87, of Menominee, Mich., passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Rennes Health Center- West. She was born July 22, 1926, in Grosse Point, Mich. to the late George and Mary Ann (Furton) Elwert.
Mary graduated from Mt. Clemens High School class of 1943. On June 29, 1946, she married Harold Conklin in Mt. Clemens, Mich. Mary was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and enjoyed knitting, making afghans, fishing, picnics, the family reunions at Henes Park and especially taking care of her children and grandchildren.
Mary is survived by: her husband, Harold of 67 years; a daughter, Jane (Ron) Tharp of Wallace, Mich.; three sons: Dan (Janet) Conklin of Menominee, Mich., James (Jan) Conklin of Howard, Wis. and Bill (Sally) of Menominee, Mich.; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Thomas, and two sisters: Pat Kmechek and Margaret Olsen.
Visitation will take place at Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 22nd, beginning at 4 p.m. until time of prayer service. The Vigil prayer service will begin at 6 p.m. with Fr. Mark McQuesten presiding. On Wednesday, April 23rd, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, for the repose of the soul of Mary Conklin, at 11 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Fr. Mark McQuesten presiding.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery Menominee.
