Mary C. Konyn, 84, of Menominee, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at their winter home in Florida. She was born on September 5, 1929, to the late Frank and Mary (Roskos) Hass in Marinette.
Mary graduated from Marinette High School in 1947. She moved to Texas to be near her sister and worked as a stenographer. Mary returned to this area for a job at Scott Paper, after nine years she took a job as an administrative assistant at the Menominee County Health Board, retiring in 1994. On July 18, 1987, Mary married Bernard "Ben" Konyn at St. Anthony's Church. She was a member of Holy Spirit Church and was involved in various ladies groups.
Mary is survived by her husband, Ben; two step-sons: Scott Konyn of Green Bay and Mark (Christine) Konyn of Cudahy; three brothers: Donald (Jane) Hass, Francis Hass and Richard (Joan) Hass; two sisters: Margaret (George) Burby of Green Bay and Lucille (Jerry) Hale of Morris, Ill.; nine grandchildren including Seth Seastrum, who they raised from nine years old; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James "Ringo" Hass, and two nephews: John Burby and Francis Hass Jr.
Visitation will take place at Thielen Funeral Home Marinette from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, December 9th. The vigil prayer service will begin at 6 p.m. with Fr. Mark McQuesten presiding. Additional time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 10th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, for the repose of the soul of Mary Konyn, on Tuesday, December 10th at 11 a.m. at Holy Spirit Church with Fr. Mark McQuesten presiding.
Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
