Marilyn A. Thunes, of Wauwatosa, formerly of Menominee, Mich., Green Bay, Wis., and Keshena, Wis., passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 in Wauwatosa, Wis., Marilyn was born March 19, 1932, in Menominee, Mich., to Waito, W. Waltonen and Bessie Holland Waltonen Schaperkotter.
On December 27, 1950, she married James Thunes in Menominee, Mich. and they had three children. In 1962, the family moved to the Green Bay, Wis. area. Marilyn was a homemaker until returning to school to earn her Associate's Degree in accounting. She worked at FMC in Green Bay, Wis. There she headed up the accounts receivable department until she and her husband retired to Legend Lake in Keshena, Wis. Marilyn was active in her church and had been a Lutheran Girl Pioneer's leader. She enjoyed reading, camping, gardening, knitting, music, rosemaling and a love of dogs.
Marilyn is survived by her loving husband, James; her children: Kerry (Wayne) Binnington, Jerry D. (Joyce) Thunes, and James W. (Kathy) Thunes; grandchildren: Jamie Binnington, Aaron Thunes, Celesta Thunes, James R. Thunes, David Thunes and Michael Thunes; her brother, Wally (Jewreen) Waltonen; nieces: Kativa Waltonen Conroy, Mindy Waltonen, Monty Waltonen and nephew Marty (Joann) Waltonen; 11 great-nieces and nephews; and four great-grand nieces and nephews. Marilyn was preceeded in death by her parents and her sister Arlene J. Waltonen.
Burial service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Menominee, Mich. We will meet at the entrance of the cemetery and be escorted to the gravesite.
