Margaret E. Schuette, 93, of Marinette, passed away Friday, March 15, 2013, at Rennes Health Center-East in Peshtigo. She was born October 19, 1919, in Chicago, Ill. to the Rev. John and Jennie Eliassen.
She came to Marinette as a child and resided here for the remainder of her life. Margaret was a graduate of Marinette High School, Class of 1938. In 1949 she married Fred J. Schuette. He preceded her in death on January 19, 1985.
Margaret was a longtime member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Marinette. She sang in the choir for many years under directors, Ernest Bowman, Gertrude Teige, George Mechalson, Karen Berlin and Doris Larson. She was a Sunday School teacher for kindergarten, fifth and sixth grades and confirmation classes. Additionally, Margaret was a member of the Lutheran Church Women and a Bible study leader for many years. She was also president of other women's groups, Financial Secretary of the congregation and Church Secretary from 1970 until 1983. For Margaret, her family, especially her children and grandchildren, occupied a primary place in her life and she was so proud of all of them. For years she was a willing provider of child care for her grandchildren and did so with a loving presence that shaped all of their young lives.
Margaret is survived by her children and their families: daughter, Linda (Drew) Lund of Marinette and their children: Peter Lund and Mollie Lund (fiancé, Thomas Arthur); son, Donald (Debbie) Schuette of Green Bay and their children: Brian and Jared Schuette; Karen (Dave) Kortbein of Marinette and their children: Mark (Ashley) Kortbein, Paul (Stephanie) Kortbein and their son, David; Margaret's only great-grandchild with another great-grandchild expected soon, and Jennie and Elizabeth Kortbein. In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by two sisters: Emma Eliassen and Alyce Pichette; and a brother, Alvin Eliassen.
Friends may call at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Marinette, after 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in the church with the Rev. James Wendt officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
