Margaret A. Gartzke, 84, of Marinette, passed away Sunday morning, June 2, 2013, at her home. She was born April 4, 1929, in Seymour, Wis. to Lawrence and Mary (Landwehr) Daoust. Margaret spent her earliest years in Seymour before moving with her family to Peshtigo. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Marinette. On August 10, 1949, she married Robert L. Gartzke. They resided for several years in the Milwaukee area where Margaret worked for Gimbel's Dept. Store. In 1960 they returned to Peshtigo, later moving to Marinette. Over the years Margaret worked at a local mink ranch, Thompson Boat Co. and the Aerial Co. in Marinette. She was a member of Holy Family Parish.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; four daughters: Connie (William) Dausey of Marinette, Sue (Richard) Jacquart and Diane (Tom) Bikowski, both of Oconto and Mary (Mike) Fox of Menominee; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Mavis Salacinski of Tomahawk, Wis. and Deloris Cortazzo of Tennessee. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and an adopted brother, Donald Landwehr.
Friends may call at Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home, in Marinette, on Wednesday, June 5, 2013, from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A funeral mass will be offered at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in Holy Family Parish-Our Lady of Lourdes Church, on Taylor St., by the Reverend Joseph Dorner.
Burial will be in Glenwood Memorial Gardens.
Margaret's family extends their appreciation to Dr. Ramaiah for her care and special thanks to wonderful neighbors, Ruth and Dave Kluetz and family, for their loving support and attention.
