Leroy Salewsky, 90, of Marinette, Wis., passed away Friday, September 13, 2013, at his home in the early morning hours. Roy was born on April 3, 1923, in Menominee, Mich. to the late Albert and Ida (Lindberg) Salewsky.
Roy attended Menominee High School. On May 5, 1945, Roy married Betty Dungan at Menominee Covenant Church. Roy worked as a foundry superintendent for L.E. Jones and later Winsert retiring in 1987. Roy had a deep faith in his Lord and was a faithful member of Community Covenant Church. He was very passionate about his family and also cared for the needs of others which was evident in his love for children from the neighborhood and church. Roy further enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends at the cabin in the woods in central Wisconsin known as the Salewsky/Lefevre cabin.
Roy is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty Dungan Salewsky of Marinette, Wis.; son, Mark (Jean) Salewsky of Slinger, Wis.; granddaughter, Kari (Fiancé, Gary Schmalzriedt Jr.) Salewsky of Oconomowoc, Wis.; grandson, Eric (Jenell) Salewsky of Franklin, Wis.; two brothers: Lloyd Salewsky of Wallace, Mich. and Roger Salewsky of Menominee, Mich.; close friend and brother-in-law, Robert Johnson Sr. (his wife, Carolyn Dungan Johnson, Deceased) of Menominee, Mich.; many nieces and nephews. Roy was followed in death several hours later by his brother, Donald Salewsky Sr. of Menominee, Mich. Roy was also preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Sunstrom.
Family will receive friends at Community Covenant Church on Saturday, September 21, 2013 after 10 a.m. until time of Memorial Service at 11:30 a.m. Pastor Tom Lach officiating.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
