Kenneth H. "Ken" Behrend, 75, Allouez, passed away peacefully into eternal life surrounded by his family at a local hospital on Saturday, January 25, 2014. He was born April 15, 1938, in Marinette, the son of William and Evelyn (Guenther) Behrend.
Ken graduated from Coleman High School. On October 19, 1957, he married Lorna Menor at Grace Lutheran Church in Crivitz. He had been a news reporter and photographer for the Marinette Eagle Star and later, the Green Bay Press Gazette, until his retirement. Ken loved camping, fishing, boating, yard work and gardening, but his true passions were his music and spending time with his family. He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church where he had served on various boards.
Ken will be deeply missed by his wife, Lorna, Allouez; two children: Karla Georgia and her husband, Duane, Green Bay; Amber Wagner and her significant other, Mick Williams, Peshtigo; his grandchildren: Matthew (Jamie) Georgia, Green Bay; Jaclyn (Andrew) Voigt, Green Bay; Ross (Brittany) Wagner, Stephenson; Ashlie (Charlie) DeSmidt, Crivitz; his six great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Beverly and Lou Atti, Largo, Fla., nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends, and a special fishing and musician friend, Don (Marge) Bins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Laura (John) Walters; his father-in-law who died when Lorna was just a child, August Menor; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Warren and Shirley Menor, Eugene Dahlen, Alorice and Orv Sterzing; nephews: Rex Dahlen and Warren Menor Jr.
Family and friends may visit from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, February 2nd 2014, at First Ev. Lutheran Church, 743 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay. Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the church with Rev. Paul Schleis officiating.
