Katherine P. "Kay" Williams, 102, died early Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Rennes Health Center-East in Peshtigo. She was born July 9, 1911, in Milwaukee, Wis. to Anthony H. and Katherine (nee Steil) Pierick.
Katherine spent her early life in Milwaukee and was a graduate of Milwaukee Downer College. She married Alan North Williams in Milwaukee on December 27, 1941. She was employed as an art teacher for the Milwaukee, Cudahy and Shorewood Schools and also helped her husband, Alan, in his school photography business. In 1961 she and Alan relocated to the Crivitz area, later moving to Marinette in 1991. An artist for her whole life, Katherine worked in watercolor, ceramic and printmaking mediums and was an advocate for the visual arts in the Marinette-Menominee area. She was a member of the PEO Sisterhood, American Association of University Women, Great Decisions, Artworks and the Crivitz Women's Club, of which she served as president from 1979-1980.
Katherine is survived by two daughters: Leigh Katherine Williams of Richland, Wash. and Ann Williams Folsom of Truckee, Calif.; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alan, on November 10, 2001; and by two brothers: William Stewart Pierick and Everel T. Pierick.
A memorial service will be held next year in July of 2014.
