Joseph A. Lauerman

Joseph A. Lauerman, well known Marinette resident, left us to be with God and his loved ones in Heaven on June 29, 2013. Joe was born to Joseph Albert Lauerman and Geraldine Tulley Lauerman on November 6, 1935.
Joseph attended Our Lady of Lourdes school, graduating in 1953. As his father did before him, he attended the University of Notre Dame, graduating cum laude with a business degree in 1957. Following again in father's footsteps, he was appointed student manager of the Notre Dame Football team during his senior year. Notre Dame always held a special place in his heart. After spending some time in the Armed Forces, Joe began a very successful career with General Motors working in their offices in Flint, Mich., Milwaukee, Wis., Singapore, and Carmel, Ind. Upon retiring he moved back to Marinette. He was a member of Holy Family Parish and he served on the Marinette Catholic Central Foundation. No matter where he lived, Joe was an active member of his community and in his parish. In 1962, he married the former Joan Wendel.
Joan survives along with their children: Lisa (Mark) Harvey, Grand Blanc, Mich., Joseph Jr. (Becky) Lauerman, Germantown, Wis., Leslie Serletic, Marinette, Wis. and Wendy (Shawn) Munn, Grand Blanc, Mich.; and grandchildren: Chandler, Chase, Carson, Austin, Tony, Madeleine, Benjamin and Nicholas. He is also survived by his two sisters: Joan (Dick) Alfredson, Menominee and Geraldine (Mike) Seaman, Palatine, Ill.; sisters-in-law: Mary Kay (Grant) Selsor, Marinette, Jayne Drys, Marinette, Mary Willcox, Edina, Minn.; brother-in-law, Dennis (Ch'ien) Wendel, Papua, New Guinea; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Joe was preceded in death by: his parents; his brothers: John Lauerman and Tom Lauerman; his sister-in-law, Janet Lauerman.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Church, Taylor Street, Marinette, with Rev. Joseph Dorner officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
Thielen Funeral Home is assisting the family.
