Jon Henry Bruemmer, 77, of Cedar River, Mich. passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday June 1, 2013. Jon was born on January 10, 1936, in Stephenson, Mich. to Heinrich "Henry" August Ernst Bruemmer and Marion Catherine (Hendrickson) Bruemmer.
Jon graduated from Menominee High School in 1954 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with minors in English and Physics and a Master of Arts in Mathematics from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich. where he met Martha "Jane"(Guthrie) Bruemmer. Jon married Jane (Guthrie) Bruemmer of Gadsen, Ariz. on June 15, 1958, in Yuma, Ariz. Jane is a retired teacher of secondary school Mathematics. Their three sons are Mark Bruemmer (54) of Savannah, Ga; Eric Bruemmer (44) of Palatine, Ill; and Jay Bruemmer (42) of Camden Point, Mo.
Jon's career in information technology included executive positions with IBM Corp. (Poughkeepsie, NY), Shell Company of Venezuela (Caracas), Technical Resources Corp. (Kansas City, MO) and Trans World Airlines (Kansas City, MO). Jon enjoyed spending time with his family, reading, travel and music. Vacations at the Cabin in Cedar River and Gadsen, Ariz. provided many happy memories for the Bruemmer families and their guests. He was extremely well read and proved to be an encyclopedia of information. During his lifetime he traveled to 41 countries. Jon loved music, singing with the TWA Ambassadors, the Menominee County Choir and many church choirs. A devoted servant of Christ, through his Christian ministry he served as Elder and most recently as Deacon of Cedar River Community Chapel in Cedar River, Mich.
Jon is preceded in death by his parents: Henry and Marion Bruemmer and his dearly beloved sister, Carolyn. Jon is survived by his wife, Jane; their son, Mark and his children: Jason, Dylan and Erin; their son, Eric; his wife, Elizabeth; and their children: Marnie and Adelaide; their son, Jay; his wife, Melissa; his twin brother, Jerry; and his sister, Joyce Hulstedt.
