John E. Lemire, 75, of Mesa, Ariz., passed away peacefully on Dec. 18, 2017. He was born on July 24, 1942, in Menominee, Mich., to Clarence and Doris Lemire.
    John graduated from Menominee High School in 1960, then served three years in the United States Army. He married the former Gloria Fort on Feb. 19, 1966. He and his family moved to Mesa in 1978 where he worked for the City of Mesa converting vehicles into police cars, then as a test driver at the GM Proving Grounds. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races, playing cards with his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gloria; son, Ken (Natalie) Lemire of Mesa; daughters: Judy (Tim) Murray of Florence, Ariz.; and Cheryl (Shane) Terry of Mesa; grandchildren: Sommer (Lance) Atwood, Brandi Lemire, Amanda Lemire, Brittany (Gentry) Shumway, Breanna (Josh) Godinez, Kendall (Melissa) Lemire and Sean Terry; and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers: Ron (Sandy) Lemire of Peshtigo, Wis.; and Dick (Dolly) Lemire of Menominee. He was preceded in death by his parents.
