Jim W. Petersen, 82, of Marinette, passed away on October 8, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. He was born on December 28, 1930, in Detroit, Mich., to William and Dorothy Petersen.
Jim grew up in Detroit, and was a graduate of Mackenzie High School and Wayne State University. In 1958, he moved to Escanaba, and later to Marinette. On September 10, 1960, Jim married Charlotte M. Knutson at the First Presbyterian Church in Escanaba. Jim was the president and owner of M&M Credit Exchange in Marinette. He retired March 1, 2000.
Professionally, he was a member of the Wisconsin Collections Association and the Association of Credit Bureaus of Wisconsin. He had served as an Elder of Pioneer Presbyterian Church in Marinette, a Deacon and Elder at First Presbyterian Church in Menominee and was currently a member of Peace United Church of Christ. Active in Masonic orders, he was a member and Past Master of Menominee Masonic Lodge No. 269, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of York Rite Masonic bodies and Ahmed Shrine Temple. He was also a member of Trillium Chapter, Order of Eastern Star No. 208 of Crivitz and a Past Worthy Patron of the Menominee Eastern Star Chapter No. 284. Jim had been a member of Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs and will be remembered as a avid Green Bay Packer fan.
Jim is survived by his wife, Charlotte; three sons: William (Barbara) of Appleton, Robert of Oklahoma City, Okla. and James (Judith) of Seminole, Fla.; six grandchildren: Kimberly, Rebecca, Joseph, Samantha, Laura and Andrew; five great-grandchildren; a twin sister, Joan (Robert) Ward of Chelsea, Mich.; nieces: Wendy of Australia and Carolyn of Royal Oak, Mich.; a special family friend, Tina Petersen and his beloved dog, Socks.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
