Jeanette Marie Peterson, 74, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, surrounded by her family, at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay, Wis. Jeanette was in the last stages of a rare auto-immune liver disease (PBC) which she had lived with for 25 years. She was born on April 19, 1938 in Marinette, Wis. to Edward and Alvina Rynning of Menominee.
Jeanette graduated from Menominee High School in 1956 and worked for a brief time at the former Scott Paper Company (now Kimberly-Clark Corporation). It was there she met her late husband, Owen. Jeanette, like Owen, grew to love the warmth and sunshine of Florida. The last 19 years were spent splitting their time between St. Petersburg and summers in Menominee. In St. Petersburg, she left behind many dear friends at Melody Gardens. Jeanette used her God-given gifts faithfully at North Shore Church in Menominee. She graced the worship sanctuary for years with her beautiful floral creations for Sunday services. She loved to decorate and make any environment more beautiful. She loved being a wife, mother and homemaker and was the primary caregiver for her son, mother and mother-in-law during their difficult years. She invested in relationships and valued and loved her family and friends deeply. Jeanette was an encourager and known for her extensive letter writing, via the old-fashioned pen/paper/U.S. mail, in her beautiful cursive writing form. She was empathic, joyful, patient, kind, gentle, generous and rooted in her faith.
Jeanette married Owen Roger Peterson (son of Roger and Amelia Peterson, of Marinette) on February 6, 1960. Their marriage was blessed with three children. A son, Roger Edward, died on April 10, 1974, from Muscular Dystrophy. Their two surviving daughters are Wendy Kay (Gwen) Kurtz (Peter) of Menominee, a beloved granddaughter Bianca and their family chocolate lab, Lola; and Cheryl Lynn Buelteman (Roger) of Green Bay; two step-grandchildren: Nicole and Calyn Buelteman; and one step-great-grandchild, Lexi. Jeanette is further survived by her brother, Robert Rynning (Dolores) of Marinette; niece, Teresa Martin (Terry); nephew, Mickey Rynning (Sharon) and their families; and brother, Ross Rynning of Menominee and nieces: Teresa Hellerman (Bill), Rhonda Pederson (Paul) and Rachel Raygo (Rick); nephews: Bill Hornung, Rod Rynning, Rory Rynning and their families. Also surviving is Owen's special niece, Darlene Carlson and family of Chaska, Minn. Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents: Edward and Alvina Rynning; husband, Owen, on January 12, 2013; son, Roger; and sister-in-law, Ruth Rynning.
A private memorial service celebrating Jeanette's and Owen's lives will be held at their burial site in Riverside Cemetery in Menominee on August 10, 2013.
Condolences can be sent to 1528 7th St., Menominee, Mich., 49858.
Her daughters would like to thank Dr. Nanda, Dr. Desai, Dr. Arias of St. Petersburg, Fla.; Dr. Shah and Dr. Bosco of Aurora in Green Bay and Dr. David Kramer of St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee along with the wonderful nursing staff at each facility in helping us through our Mom's last battle. We'd also like to thank the United States Air Ambulance of Sarasota, Fla. who made it possible to have our mother in Wisconsin, surrounded by her family, in her final weeks.
