Iver G. Johnson, 72, of Menominee, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Sun Valley Homes II in Marinette after suffering with dementia. He was born June 21, 1940, in Marinette to Carl G. and Edith Johnson.
He spent his early life in Marinette and was a graduate of Marinette High School, Class of 1959. He married the former Joan Theall on March 30, 1963, recently celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
Iver was a 50-year member of the United Association of Journeymen with the Pipefitting Industry, working out of Local 111. He was a former member of the M & M Ice Boat Club and North Shore Golf Club. His interests included building and racing ice boats, winning many regattas; and sailing, golfing and fly fishing.
Iver is survived by his wife, Joan; two daughters: Stacy (Mark) Myers of Marinette and Tammy (Shawn) Maedke of New Franken, Wis.; five grandchildren: Bret Lindquist of Milwaukee, Melissa (James) Schulke of Marinette, Hayden Myers, Hannah and Hunter Maedke; two great-grandchildren: Lexi and Collin; one sister, Gunnel Arnvist of Sweden; one brother, Carl (Carole) Johnson of Marinette; nieces, nephews and many other relatives in Sweden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Edith Johnson; a brother, George; and a sister, Ruth.
Private family services were held on Friday, May 24, 2013, in Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home, Marinette, with the Rev. Craig Mansur officiating.
Burial was in Forest Home Cemetery.
