Helen M. Yunke, 97, of Marinette, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, at the Renaissance. She was born on Sept. 27, 1920, to the late Jacob and Petronlia (Szilondz) Onischick in Racine, Wis.
  Helen attended elementary school in Wausaukee and then moved to Marinette. On September 13, 1941, Helen married Otto “Brother” F. Yunke Jr. in Marinette; he preceded her in death in October of 1980. She worked for Victory Bag, Schreiner’s Restaurant in Marinette, Badger Piston, and Scott Paper Co. for 15 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of Holy Family Parish. She was a colon cancer survivor from 1963. Helen enjoyed knitting, textile painting, reupholstering furniture, picking berries and canning the jam, and was an avid sports fan, both pro and watching all of her children and grandchildren. After retirement, she enjoyed taking the bus up to the casinos.
Helen is survived by two sons: Bob (Mary) Yunke of Green Bay, and Pat (Lee Ann) Yunke of Grafton, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Otto, she was preceded in death by two sons: Marv and Jerry; and a sister, Ann Miller.
Visitation will be held at Thielen Funeral Home on Friday, Feb. 16, from 11 a.m. until time of service. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m., with Fr. Celestine Byekwaso officiating. 
Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Alzheimer’s Assoc. or the American Cancer Society.
