Helen Ann Christophersen, 84, of Wallace, Mich., passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at the Menominee Care Center. Helen Zuraski was born on May 2, 1929, in Marinette, Wis. to the late Mike and Mary (Petroska) Zeratsky.
On January 31, 1948, Helen married Russell Christophersen in Marinette, Wis. Russell preceded her in death on September 22, 2007. Helen worked for Marinette General Hospital as a candy striper, cleaned homes, and worked at Fish Net and Twine for 25 years. Helen enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and dancing the polka. Above all else, her #1 passion was her family. Her family will miss the Sunday afternoon Chicken Dinners and her love for family gatherings. Helen was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons: Edward (Bonnie) of Wausaukee, Wis. and Larry (JoAnn) of Hermansville, Mich.; six daughters: Sharon (Michael) Burie of Wallace, Donna Schwartz of Daggett, Mich., Debbie (Jim) Motto of Stephenson, Mich., Janet (LeRoy) Wettanen of Menominee, Mich., Theresa (LeRoy) Smotucha of Stephenson, Mich. and Karen (Earl) Robinson of Dexter, N.Y.; 27 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Helen was preceded in death by two sons: Greg and Jeff; two grandsons: Matthew and Shawn; son-in-law: Tony Schwartz; three sisters and two brothers.
Family and friends may call at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church on Friday, September 6, 2013, from 10 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at noon. Father Michael Ocran officiating.
Burial will immediately follow in Birch Creek Cemetery.
