Hazel Irene Meyers, 102, of Marinette, passed away Friday evening, January 24, 2014, at Bay Area Medical Center. She was born September 9, 1911, in the Town of Grover to Arthur and Cora (Waterworth) Bancroft.
Hazel resided in this area all of her life and attended school in Marinette. She married Louis P. Meyers on August 24, 1933. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1966. Hazel's life was devoted to her family, homemaking and gardening. She loved to walk and enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle, and in later years played bingo. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Marinette and had been active as a member of the Marinette Senior Center.
Hazel is survived by one son, Gerald (Jeanette) Meyers of Menominee; four grandchildren: Donald (Debra) Meyers of Menominee, Beverly (Jim) Schuchart of Marinette, Dale (Christa) Meyers of Germany and Brenda (Jody) Therriault of Peshtigo; six great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters, one son and a great-granddaughter.
Friends may call at First United Methodist Church in Marinette from 2 until 4 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2014. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Kevin Dembinski officiating.
Burial will be in Glenwood Memorial Gardens.
