Gaylord H. King, 92, passed away January 17, 2017 at the Luther Home, in Marinette, where he was a resident. He was born July 13, 1924, son of the late Herbert J. and Belauh (Bowman) King.
Gaylord proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. July 20, 1946, he married the love of his life, the former Charlotte M. Couvillion, and she preceded him in death September 29, 2015. In his younger years, Gaylord was a Golden Gloves Boxer and worked with his father in the family owned and operated Deep Rock Gas Station in Peshtigo. He was a former Marinette County Board member, a volunteer for the Peshtigo Fire Department, and the Silver Cliff Rescue Squad, and also served as Chaplain for the Athelstane-Silver Cliff American Legion Post 66.
Gaylord is survived by a daughter, Kaye (Wayne) Angi; two sons: Richard (Carol) King and Kevin (Diane) King; his grandchildren: Mark (Julia) Angi, Michael (Kelly) Angi, Matthew (Petra) King, Adam King, Katie (Seth) Berman and Matthew (fiancée Chae`Caroll) Pivovar; great-grandchildren: Tae Angi, Braxton Angi, Kellen King, and Lily and Grant Berman; and a brother-in-law, Robert “Cubby” (Patty) Couvillion. Also survived by a special niece and nephew: Lon Harrand and Debbie Nichols and many other nieces, nephews and special friends.
Family will receive relatives and friends, Thursday, February 16th at Berth & Rosenthal Funeral Home from 12 noon until time of Memorial service at 3 p.m. with Pastor Lin Wittmann officiating.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Peshtigo.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the American Legion Post 66 in Athelstane or the Peshtigo Methodist Church.
