Frank R. Cadieu

Frank R. Cadieu, 87, a resident of Menominee, passed away on January 28, 2014, at the Luther Home. He was born January 14, 1927, in Milwaukee to the late Roy and Elsie (Franke) Cadieu.
Frank graduated from Menominee High School in 1945. Following graduation, he served his country as a military policeman in the Occupational Army in Europe. After service, he attended Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Mich., for two years. He was the center for NMU's football team. He graduated from WI Institute of Mortuary Science in 1950. He entered the family business, Cadieu Funeral Home, with his father, Roy Cadieu. He was a member of the Michigan Funeral Director's Association. He married the former Lois Christiansen on April 5, 1952, at the First Presbyterian Church in Menominee, Mich., where he later served as an Elder and Treasurer.Frank was a member and Past-President of the Menominee Rotary Club. He was a recipient of the Paul Harris Award. He was the Past-President of the DAR Boy's Club and recipient of the Man and Boy Award. Other activities included the American Legion where he served as Adjutant. Frank was a member of the VFW. He was a member and Past-Master of the Menominee Masonic Lodge #269. He was also a member of Ahmed Shrine Temple. Frank thoroughly enjoyed coaching Pop Warner football. Frank is survived by his wife, Lois of 61 years; one son, Gary R. (Cheryl) Cadieu; one daughter, Cheryl L. (Steve Paliewicz) Hoffman; his one brother, Robert V. (Norma) Cadieu, and his sister-in-law, Joyce Kornusky. His greatest joy's in life were his four grandchildren: Kimberly (Darrin) Kudwa, Christy (Daniel) Dessart, Casey Cadieu Hoffman, and Calli Cadieu Hoffman.
A private family gathering was held at the Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home.
Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Menominee. A memorial fund has been established in Frank's name. Funds will be directed to the Menominee Maroon Football Team for new jerseys and the Emergency Rescue Squad. Contributions can be sent to the Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home at 549 10th Avenue, Menominee, Mich.
