Evelyn Rae Schreiner, 97, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2017. She was born on September 9, 1919, in Menominee, Mich. to the late Carl and Ella (Fleury) Peterson.
Evelyn married Frank Schreiner on June 17, 1939 in Menominee. He preceded her in death on February 25,1978.
Evelyn was the bookkeeper for Marinette Plumbing and Heating, the business her and Frank owned until his death. She then went to work for Swears Fish House in Menominee, retiring at age of 76. Evelyn’s main title in life was Hostess. She always enjoyed the family gatherings at her “country house in the city” as she would call it. From weddings, to graduations, funerals, birthdays, to family reunions, her door was always open and there was coffee on the stove and  food on the table for anyone that entered. She always will be remembered for her servant heart, her witt, and her spunky attitude. When asked how she felt she would reply “with my fingers of course” or if you asked how she was doing she would say “finer than frogs hair, cut in half”. With 97 plus years on this earth she touched many lives and will be dearly missed.
Evelyn is survived by her sister, Norma Pecor; her brother, Gary Peterson; one daughter, Karen (Gary) Peterson; daughter-in-law, Judy Schreiner; foster son, Richard Chevalier; four grandchildren: Amy (Mike) Kunesh, Dean Peterson, Jodie (Brian) Barrette and Jeff (Gabi Dorna) Schreiner; seven great-grandchildren: Brooke, Brock, Brennan, George, Grace, Gavin and Ava; her great-great-grandson, Landen; and other family members and friends. In addition to her parents and  husband Frank, Evelyn was preceded in death by her son, Errol Schreiner; four brothers and four sisters.
A Celebration of Evelyn’s Life will be held at the Thielen Funeral Home on Thursday, March 16, 2017. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of services at 6 p.m.
Burial will be in Glenwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Marinette.
Evelyn’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Rennes Health Center-East.
