Edward G. Raygo, 85 of Menominee, Mich., passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Bay Area Medical Center in Marinette, Wis. surrounded by his family. Ed was born in Marinette, Wis. on February 20, 1928, to the late George and Emma (Pontow) Raygo.
Ed graduated from Marinette High School. He went on to serve in the United States Army at the end of World War II and in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He took for his wife the former Ellen Heraly. Ed served as the superintendent of the City of Menominee wastewater treatment plant for 40 years. Following his retirement, he enjoyed remodeling older homes and gardening in his greenhouse. Ed was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Menominee. He served the City of Menominee on the Board of Review and was quite involved in city affairs.
Ed is survived by his wife, Ellen of Menominee, Mich.; daughter, Eileen of Marinette, Wis.; two sons: Tim (Judy) of Menominee, Mich. and Mike of Marinette, Wis.; eight grandchildren, 18 great- grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. Ed was preceded in death by three brothers: Floyd, Francis, and Fred.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 17, 2013 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Menominee. Military Rites will be performed at 6p.m. followed by the funeral service. Reverend Lee Goodwin officiating. Burial will be Thursday at 9 a.m. at Glenwood Memorial Gardens in Marinette with military graveside services conducted by the 20 Year Club.
