Earl J. Bird Jr., 77, of Daggett, Mich., passed away on Friday, September 13, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. Earl was born on December 6, 1935 in Britton, Mich. to the late Earl Sr. and Mary (Kronberg) Bird.
Earl proudly served his Country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. On April 11, 1955 Earl married Beverly Axtell at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Menominee, Mich. Earl worked as a farmer, truck driver and mechanic and also worked for the Island Resort and Casino until his retirement. Earl enjoyed working on small engines, and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He further enjoyed hunting, fishing and pulling a good prank. Earl attended Stephenson Assembly of God.
Earl is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bev of Daggett, Mich.; four daughters: Lynn (Larry Kleikamp) Bird of Bagley, Mich., Liesa (Dennis) Spehar of Carney, Mich., Laurie (Curtis) Guindon of Bark River, Mich., and Penny (Dave) Kintgen of Daggett, Mich.; one son, Terry Bird of Daggett, Mich.; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Mary Ann Fadroski of Stephenson, Mich., Bonnie Fister of Daggett, Mich., Vivian (Frank) Gaudes of Milwaukee, Wis., and Edith Vincent of Stephenson, Mich.; and two brothers: Donald Bird of Vulcan, Mich. and Paul (Barb) Bird of Menominee, Mich.
Family will receive friends on Monday, September 16, 2013, at the Carney Free Church after 3 p.m. until time of Military Rites at 5:45 p.m. followed by Funeral Service. Pastors Gary Page and Damian Garcia officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Oakwood on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 10 a.m.
