Donald Albert Salewsky Sr., 88, of Menominee, Mich., passed away on Friday, September 13, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 24, 1925 in Menominee, Mich. to the late Albert and Ida (Limberg) Salewsky.
Donald served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corp. Don married the former Uleta "Mickey" McDonald on October 22, 1949. She preceded him in death on October 19, 2012. Don grew up farming. He also worked at L.E. Jones, The House of Color T.V. and then retiring in 1989 from Sears as an Appliance Technician. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #2337 and the Amvets of Marinette. Don enjoyed fishing, going camping and being outdoors with his family and friends.
Donald is survived by two daughters: Joylea (Bill) Derouin and Loreen (Bruce) Casey, both of Menominee, Mich.; three sons: Donald (Kathleen) Salewsky of Marinette, Wis., Steven (Janene) Salewsky of Oconto, Wis., and Paul Salewsky of Menominee, Mich.; 12 grandchildren including: Wendy (Don) Toyne, Scott (Angie) Salewsky, Jean (Mike Squire) Saxton, John (Jene) Pleau, Uleta Maloney, Mike Brubaker, Spencer Casey, Trina (Austin Beattie) Casey, Amanda (Steve) Kornita, Robert Stevenson, Katie Salewsky and Ryan Salewsky; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Roger Salwesky of Menominee and Lloyd Salwesky of Wallace; and many other family members and friends. Along with his parents; and his wife, Uleta, Donald was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Sunstrum; and his brother, Leroy, who passed away just hours before Don.
A celebration of Donald's life will be held at the Moose Lodge on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
