David W. "Tubby" Walker, 57, of Marinette, passed away Saturday evening, April 12, 2014, at Bay Area Medical Center after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 8, 1956 to Bernice and Greg "Bud" Walker of Marinette.
He graduated in 1975 from Marinette High School and continued on to become a Journeyman Plumber/Pipefitter. He worked at Marinette Marine Corp. and for the Upper Peninsula Plumbers and Pipefitters, Local 400. Dave married the former Deb Harteau on June 26, 1976. He was a member of Holy Family Parish. Dave will be remembered for his quick wit and his ability to make others laugh. He enjoyed spending endless hours in his garage doing woodworking and his special times up at camp.
Dave is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Debra; their son, Adam and "daughter" Melissa and was anxiously awaiting the arrival of his first grandson. He is further survived by brothers: Greg (Shirley) Walker, Tom (Linda) Walker and Stephen (Deb) Walker; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Laurie Hetland, Cyndi (Dennis) Bubolz, Darcy (Jim) Lucaszka and J (Keesha) Smith; his mother-in-law, Marie Smith; step-mother, Barb Walker; many nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his parents; fathers-in-law: Richard W. Smith and Raymond C. Harteau; and a step-brother, Mike Walker.
Friends may call at Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home, in Marinette, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2014. A parish Vigil will follow at 7 p.m. led by Deacon Jerome Thetreau. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16th, in Holy Family Parish-Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Taylor St., by the Reverend Joseph Dorner.
Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bay Area Medical Center Oncology Fund.
The family extends a special thank you to Dr's. Montoya and Hamdan and the staff of Bay Area Cancer Care Center and to the oncology nurses and staff of BAMC for their outstanding care.
