David Jon Fernstrum, 84, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Menominee, Mich., passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2018, in Tucson. David was born on May 4, 1934, in Detroit, Mich., to the late Robert and Caroline (Kneutsen) Fernstrum. 
David moved to Menominee with his family in 1950.  He attended Missouri Military Academy in the 8, 9 and 10 grades and graduated from Menominee High School in 1952. David was married to the former Nancy Szmik for 42 years until her death in 2003. He later married Natalyiya Gentry. David was the Vice President of Exports for R.W. Fernstrum & Company. He was a Rotarian, member of the Wishigan Camping and Hikers Association and First Presbyterian Church. David was a strong supporter of River Park Campground and the Menominee Animal Shelter. David enjoyed camping and loved his dogs and cats.
Survivors include his wife, Natalyiya Fernstrum of Tuscon, Ariz.; brother, Paul (Sandra) Fernstrum of Menominee; two nephews: Sean and Todd; two great-grandnephews; and three great-grandnieces. David was preceded in death by his sister, Joan Wallace in 1985.
Private graveside service will be held in Riverside Cemetery with Pastor Jon Nelson officiating.
