Carolyn M. Johnson, 87, of Menominee, Mich., passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Bay Area Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. The former Carolyn Dungan was born on November 24, 1925, in Cando, N.D. to the late Merle and Amanda (Nordlund) Dungan.
On August 23, 1947, Carolyn married Robert E. Johnson at Menominee Covenant Church, a marriage that remained strong and faithful for 65 years. Carolyn earned a teacher's certificate from North Park University and taught school at Hamilton School in Menominee. She later became the secretary at Central Elementary School for 20 years, retiring in 1984. She and her husband enjoyed wintering in Florida for 17 years. Carolyn had a deep love for her family, and was very passionate about her grandchildren. Carolyn was a faithful member of the Community Covenant Church, and she had a real love for music.
Survivors include her husband, Bob of Menominee, Mich.; three sons: Bob Jr. (Sue) of Winthrop Harbor, Ill., Bruce (Chris) of Wauwatosa, Wis. and Brian (Cindy) of Pleasant Prairie, Wis.; daughter, Becky (Bosko) Djurickovic of Pleasant Prairie, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister and best friend, Betty (Roy) Salewsky of Menominee, Mich. and nephew, Mark (Jean) Salewsky of Slinger, Wis.
Family and friends may call at Community Covenant Church, Menominee, on Saturday, April 13, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. until time of Memorial Service at 11 a.m. Reverend Tom Lach officiating.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
