Bruno N. Scaritski, 93, of Menominee, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Menominee Care Center. He was born on June 6, 1920, to the late Adam and Mary (Harbor) Scaritski in Buffalo, N.Y.
His parents moved to Gaastra, Mich., shortly after his birth. He graduated from Stambaugh High School and worked with the CCC. He went on to serve his country in the US Army during World War II. He served with the 813 Aviation Corp in Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, and the Aleutian Islands. After service he moved to the area. On December 28, 1941, Bruno married Joyce Pavlat at Precious Blood Church in Stephenson; she preceded him in death on November 4, 2012. He had worked at American Can, Bell Fiber, and retired from Menominee Paper after 38 years of service. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Church, the VFW, and a former member of the American Legion and Menominee Elks. He enjoyed gardening, cribbage, and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and Detroit Sports fan.
Bruno is survived by a son, Jim (Carol Arsineau) Scaritski of Menominee; two daughters: Sharon Doege of Franklin, Va. and Barbara (Paul) Bird of Menominee; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Joyce, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Marie Dougovito and Mel Kenny.
As per his wishes, Private Family services will be held. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
