Brett James Dessart, 34, of Menominee, Mich., passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018, at home of natural causes. Brett was born on Aug. 15, 1983,  in Marinette, Wis., to James Dessart and Chris (Russell) Hofer. Brett was a 2002 graduate of Menominee High School and graduated from Northern Michigan University. Brett was currently employed by Winsert in the shipping department. Brett loved going to camp with Carl, Rod, Sam, Justin and Nate, hunting and fishing, and his fur brother “Timber.” Brett loved sports and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan 
Survivors include his mother, Chris (Carl) Hofer of Menominee; father, James (Cheryl and her children) Dessart of Menominee; grandmother, Lois Russell; brother, Troy (Syndy) Russell of Sparks, Nev., and his children: Angelly and Gabriella; sister, Gina (Adam) Hofer of Daggett and her children: Libby, Colton, Ashton and Gavon;  godson, Mason Wozniak;  aunts and uncles: Merle (Jane) Russell and their families, Heidi (Mike) Wozniak and their families, Gary (Linda) Uecke and their families, Tom (Mary) Redman and their families, Mary (Neil) Beaudo and their families, Barb (Larry) Moberg and their families, Mike (Eileen) Pairon and their families, Shelby Pairon and their families, Sandy Veriha and her family; great uncle,  Joe LaPlante; great aunt, Pat Joslin; special cousin,  Diane Keller; and numerous family members and friends, too many to mention.  Brett was preceded in death by his grandfather, Glen “Buddy” Russell; grandparents: Lawrence and Sarah Dessart, and Glen “Roundy” and Alice Hofer, Joe Pairon, William “Butch” Pairon, Bob Hofer and Bill Uecke; and great-aunts: Nathalie LaPlante and Joyce (Ben) Keller.
Family will receive friends at Cadieu Funeral Home on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018, from 1 p.m. until time of funeral service at 5 p.m. In honor of Brett and his love for camouflage, please support him by wearing camouflage.  No formal dress code required.  
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
