Alvin G. Williams, 85, of Marinette, Wis., passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Bay Area Medical Center surrounded by his family. Alvin was born on February 17, 1928, in Menominee, Mich. to the late Alvin and Ethel (Barker) Williams.
Alvin proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. On April 12, 1947, Alvin married the former Luella Muma in Stephenson, Mich. Luella preceded him in death on August 23, 1988. On April 30, 1995, Alvin married the former Elinor Renaud in Neenah, Wis. Alvin worked as a welder at Marinette Marine retiring in June of 1992. Alvin enjoyed camping and being around the water and anything maritime. Alvin was known to be quite the jokester and loved being with his family and dog, Dusty. Alvin was a member of the American Legion and VFW.
Survivors include his wife, Elinor of Marinette, Wis.; children: Bonnie (Scott) Gay of Menominee, Mich., Tom (Geri) Williams of Menominee, Mich., Vicki Williams of Oak Creek, Wis., Mary (John) Huffman of Menominee, Mich. and Mark (Lois) Williams of Lena, Wis.; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; step-children: Cindy Johnson of Peshtigo, Wis., Kim (Tina) Renaud of Peshtigo, Wis. and Cheryl Grant of Marinette, Wis.; six step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Norman (Almeta) Williams of Marinette, Wis. and sister, Eleanore Hudson of Hinesville, Ga. Alvin was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Family and friends may call at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home on Friday, May 24, 2013, after 3 p.m. until time of Military Rites at 5:30 p.m. followed by Parish Prayer Service. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. at Precious Blood Catholic Church with Father Corey Litzner officiating.
Burial will be in Stephenson Township Cemetery.
