Alice Campbell Prescott, 82, died peacefully Sunday morning, Jan. 5, 2014, with her family at her side. Alice was born in Marinette, Wis., to Elizabeth Welch Campbell and Henry Clayton Campbell.
A proud graduate of Northwestern University with a B.A. in music education, she taught the blind in Chicago for many years before marrying Loren Prescott and starting a family. Alice lived a full life of travel, golf, sailing and family. Alice raced sailboats across Lake Michigan before she could drive. She was an exceptional cook, creative seamstress, quilter, knitter, and enjoyed bridge and other board games; she always won! This family matriarch will be remembered for her loving generosity, wit, dedication, and strength.
She is survived by three children: Karen Stears, Barbara Prescott and Loren Prescott; son-in-law, Dr. Robert Stears; stepson, Steve Prescott; six grandchildren: Megan and Sam Prescott, Alice, Elizabeth and John Stears and Nicolas (Max) Prescott; nephews: Bill and Dave Campbell; and niece, Claudia Campbell.
