Agnes Elizabeth Folcik, 88, Carney, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers. She was born on June 17, 1925 in Gourley Township, Mich., the daughter of the late Henry and Josephine (List) Jasper.
On June 21, 1947 she married the late Henry Folcik. Agnes graduated from Harris High School in 1942. She and her husband operated a dairy farm in Carney. She enjoyed the outdoors, her vegetable and flower gardens and was an avid bird watcher throughout her life. Agnes also liked playing cards and taught her grandchildren many different card games. In her retirement, she spent many hours volunteering at Pinecrest before becoming a resident there in May of 2009. She was a member of St. Bruno's Catholic Church in Nadeau and belonged to the St. Anne's Altar Society.
Agnes is survived by six sons: Michael of Powers, Eugene (Donna) of Rapid River, Thomas (Peggy) of Powers, Peter (Natalie) of Powers, John (Judy) of Powers and Benedict of Albany, Ill.; two daughters: Christine Marana of Powers and Mary Jo (Dennis) DePas of Menominee; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Smiltneek of Wauwatosa, Wis.; as well as many nieces and nephews. Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and two brothers: Benedict and Anthony.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon (CST) on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at St. Bruno's Parish in Nadeau. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon (CST) on Saturday at the church with Fr. Michael Vichich officiating. Burial will follow Mass in the Nadeau Township Cemetery. A luncheon will be held in the church parish hall.
