TOWN OF NIAGARA — A head-on crash along Highway 141 resulted in the death of a passenger Sunday afternoon after wet snow made road conditions slippery and dangerous.
Dorothy Toltzman of Beecher, Wis., 68, passed away Sunday after being transported to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
According to Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve, a southbound sedan with four occupants including Toltzman slid across the center line of Highway 141 near Wishman and West roads into a northbound SUV. Toltzman was ejected from the front passenger seat and was treated on the scene but later succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the southbound vehicle was treated for a shoulder injury, while the driver of the northbound vehicle, Matthew Haupt of Pembine, 32, was uninjured.
The crash remains under investigation by the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office and the county coroner.
