MARINETTE — The Marinette Plan Commission approved a conditional use permit on Wednesday to allow an assisted living community business to build a new elder care facility on Cleveland Avenue in a B-1 Local Shopping Zoning District.

The conditional use permit was sought by The Cottages Investment Group LLC, an assisted living community business which operates The Cottages on Golden Pond in Shawano, Wis., and The Cottages at MeadowLands in Oconto Falls. The company is seeking to build a similar assisted living facility to its existing two at Lot 10 Lake Park Estates, a land parcel on Cleveland Avenue, which is expected to create 45 to 50 jobs specializing in dementia residential care.

While The Cottages has yet to submit site plans for the facility, Wade T. Micoley, an owner of The Cottages Investment Group, presented the Plan Commission members with a 3-D mock-up of what the building may look like upon completion.

The Plan Commission unanimously approved the conditional use permit for the elder care facility. Commissioner Tom Crowley was not present and did not vote. Final site plans for the facility will be forwarded to the Plan Commission at a later date.
