Niagara man killed in crash

MARINETTE - Marinette County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy James Hansen reports that the county recorded its sixth traffic fatality of 2013 on Friday on U.S. 141 near County Trunk CP in the Town of Pound.
Kristian A. Reed, 21, Niagara, was the victim, according to the sheriff's department.
At 10:54 p.m., Marinette County dispatch received a call about a vehicle crash. A vehicle driven by Joseph G. Hayes, 43, Lemont, Ill., was traveling south in the northbound lane of U.S. 141 when it struck a nortbound vehicle head-on.
Reed was driving the northbound vehicle.
There were four vehicles involved in the crash, other injured persons were transported by rescue squads to Bay Area Medical Center.
Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation by the sheriff's department.
Assisting the sheriff's department were the Pound and Coleman fire departments, the Coleman and Crivitz rescue squads, the Crivitz and Marinette police departments and Marinette County Coroner George Smith.
