OCONTO —  The Oconto County Historical Society’s Monthly Speaker Series will feature the premiere showing of recently digitized 8mm films of Oconto, dating from the 1930s to the 1950s.
The film showing will take place at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 1 in the meeting room of the Beyer Home and Carriage Museum located at 917 Park Ave., Oconto.
The films highlight Oconto parades down Main Street along with many familiar faces at the American Legion Golf Club.
The original 8mm films were brought to the Oconto County Historical Society by John Lane, who received the films and original projector from his aunt, Ceil McTavish, who wanted to donate the items so they would be preserved.
The evening’s program presenter is David Retzlaff, who has worked with the 8mm films and was also involved with the digitizing process. He will do the narration during the showing.
The program is free and open to the public. A question and answer session will follow the program.
Complimentary refreshments will be served.
