Welcome Walleyes wanted for project
MENOMINEE — Spies Public Library will host a display of Welcome Walleyes.
The walleyes were purchased, painted and displayed by area businesses, in conjunction with the Cabela’s walleye tournament held in August, as part of a public art project sponsored by the Downtown Marinette Action Committee.
Those businesses that wish to have their fish displayed, should drop them off at Spies Public Library from Nov. 13 to 17. Fish should be ready to be hung, and an information sheet should be provided with the name of the business, artist and the concept behind the painting. A reception will be held in December; the fish can be picked up by the businesses afterwards.
The Marinette Downtown Action Committee is very pleased with the public’s response to the project and hopes to have another public art project next summer. For more information, people may contact Spies library, 906-863-2900.
