Italian night to be held Jan. 13
MARINETTE — The Marinette Moose Lodge invites the public to a “One and a half Italian Night” at the lodge, 5233 E Nettleton Road, Jan. 13 from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
Master chef Mario Pisani, who was born in Lueca, Italy, will make an all-day spaghetti sauce, using his family’s recipe from the old country and will offer different types of pasta. Larry Liljestrand, whose mother was born in Italy, will make his mother’s family’s Italian sausage recipe for cudighi as well as Evie Tousignant’s sausage recipe. The dinner will also feature an authentic Italian toss salad and garlic bread.
The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children 6 years and older and free for those younger than 6. As per Pisani’s request, proceeds from this dinner will be donated to the Saint Thomas Aquinas Academy. For more information, persons may call the lodge at 715-732-4677.
Ballroom Dance class available
MARINETTE — The Marinette Senior Center is offering an 8-week session of Ballroom Dance lessons at the center, 1603 Ludington St., every Tuesday beginning Jan. 16. from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The lessons, which includes East Coast swing dancing: Single, double and triple step, is $45 per person and open to all adults. Partners are not needed. The dance instructor is Judy McAloon and advanced registration is required. Registration is deemed complete upon payment of the class fee.

STAA receives $500 grant
MARINETTE — Saint Thomas Aquinas Academy received a grant of $500 from Catholic Financial Life, Chapter 317 located in Crivitz and Coleman. This organization sponsored the school’s Oktoberfest celebration and matched a portion of the money raised at the event. The funds will be used to help provide classroom supplies.
Business donates to nonprofits
CRIVITZ — The Marinette County Elderly Services received a $2,600 donation from Tony’s Dockside Bar and Grill Deer Hunter’s Auction and Benefit with a 10 percent match donation from Dennis and Kathy Wiebe. The donation will be used to benefit Marinette County’s older adults. Tony VanLaanen, who took over the Dockside Bar and Grill, W12327 Eagle Road, in March, has contributed to the community by donating over $15,000 to area nonprofits and charitable organizations. 
The group also received 25 food bags from the Crivitz Lions Club for Meals on Wheels participants.
