Fire department to place American flags
HERMANSVILLE —The Meyer Township Volunteer Fire Department will again place American flags in businesses and other areas in the community as part of the Veterans Day celebration, Saturday.
FEMA-EFSP meeting time changed

Beginner ice skating lessons offered
MARINETTE — The Marinette Recreation Department is accepting registration for beginner ice skating lessons for persons four years and older, at the Civic Center, 2000 Alice Lane. Preregistration is required as payment and is due at the time of registration. Phone registrations are not accepted. The fall session will run Mondays from 4 to 4:45 p.m., Monday through Dec. 18, at a cost of $32 for Marinette City residents and $42 for non-residents. Fees include the use of rental skates, if needed. Children may use either figure or hockey skates, but not double-bladed skates. ALA Unit 146 to meet, updates public
MENOMINEE — Menominee American Legion Auxiliary Unit 146 will meet at the Legion Post, 818 1st St., Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The 2018 membership dues of $25 are now payable. The Christmas Ball raffle wrapping of gifts Nov. 15 at 5 p.m. and members are reminded to bring gift bags, scissors, tape and wrapping paper. A lunch will be provided. Stargazing tour to be held Nov. 20
MARINETTE — Anne Bartels, Information and Education Specialist from the Marinette County Land and Water will share general astronomy information and give a stargazing tour of the night sky at the Harmony Arboretum, 7 miles west of Marinette, 1/2-mile south of Highway 64 County E, Nov. 20 from 5:45 to 7 p.m. Attendees will learn about the constellations, look for satellites and meteors and spend an evening under the stars. Some viewing equipment will be available. Various astronomy handouts and information will also be available. This is free and open to the public.
