Free ‘Seed to Feed’ class to be held
MENOMINEE — The free class, “Seed to Feed,” sponsored by the Menominee Historic Downtown Farmers Market, will be presented Saturday, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., at the Menominee Senior Center, 905 10th St.
Lucy Pier, a certified organic grower from Menominee County, will talk about planting tips and tricks including how and when to plant seeds; how to check soil pH; and how to make plant food that not only feeds plants but also repels pests. Beginner and advanced gardeners are welcome. “Seed to Feed” will take place during regular Farmers Market hours, 9 a.m. to noon.
Church continues quilting mission
MARINETTE — Our Savior’s Lutheran Church quilter’s group will assemble in the church hall, University Drive and Pierce Avenue, on the first and third Thursdays each month at 8 a.m. Volunteers are welcome. The work includes jobs for a variety of talents, sewing and non-sewing. The finished quilts are donated to local charities and the Lutheran World Relief. Donations of material are welcome.
